If a tooth is diseased and cannot be treated, it may need to be extracted. This applies, for example, in cases of infection in the root, untreated cavities, or advanced gum disease. X-rays, anesthesia, and hygiene supplies are included. We want tooth extraction to be a last resort, and our recommendation is to try to preserve your natural teeth if they can be repaired. If the tooth can no longer be repaired, or if you do not wish to keep it, extraction is an option.

Simple tooth extraction includes:

Sometimes a tooth must be removed to avoid infection and pain. Other times, a tooth may be extracted in connection with orthodontic treatment.

Before and after a tooth extraction, certain precautions must be taken: eat well before your appointment, and after the tooth has been removed, it is very important not to eat or drink for 2-3 hours. After the tooth is removed, swelling in the area is common, and some may experience pain and slight bleeding at the extraction site. You will receive bite compresses and pain relief tablets from us to stop any bleeding.

In some cases, a replacement may be desired after a tooth is removed. This could be, for example, an implant, a bridge, or a denture.
