Sometimes a piece of a filling or the tooth may come loose. This can be due to prolonged stress, acute injuries, or the development of cavities along the edge of the filling, causing it to lose its attachment. It’s advisable to treat this promptly to prevent further damage. If larger pieces come loose, the tooth has previously been root-treated, or there is little remaining of the tooth itself, rebuilding with filling material may not be the most optimal treatment. In such cases, we will temporarily restore the tooth during your first visit and then plan for further treatment, such as a crown.

We examine the damage, relieve any pain, and create a temporary or permanent replacement based on the assessment during the appointment.

  • X-ray if necessary
  • Anesthesia
  • Customized filling, either temporary or permanent based on the situation

  • Røntgenbilde ved behov
  • Bedøvelse
  • Tilpasset fylling, enten midlertidig eller permanent utifra situasjon

Why do I get cavities in my teeth?

In the oral cavity, there are bacteria that convert carbohydrates from food and drinks into acid. This acid can dissolve the enamel of the teeth and create "cavities" (caries). Cavities that are only in the outer layer of the tooth can be halted in their development and may not require treatment. However, if the cavity extends deeper into the tooth, treatment is necessary, usually with a filling. Several things can help prevent cavities: - Reduce the intake of added sugars and starches. Decrease meal frequency so that the teeth have longer breaks from acid exposure. - Fluoride: Brush with fluoride toothpaste in the morning and evening. Do not rinse with water after brushing. - Saliva itself has a protective effect.
